In addition to graduate level training and licensure in mental health, I also have a Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, I am a Certified Veteran Rehabilitation Specialist, and I spent seven years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) Services Division of the Department of Veterans Affairs. I worked one on one with disabled Veterans to help them obtain and maintain suitable, stable and gainful employment and had a 98% success rate.  The St. Petersburg Regional Office is one of the largest in the nation, serving 7,500 Veterans annually. I provided all services and assistance necessary to enable entitled Veterans with service-connected disabilities to obtain and maintain suitable, stable and gainful employment and, if not employable, achieve independence in daily living to the maximum extent feasible.

I have extensive knowledge and experience in creating Individualized Rehabilitation Plans, Rapid Access to Employment Plans, Self-Employment Plans, and Independent Living Plans.  I am an expert in performing labor market research, job analyses, transferable skills analyses, career counseling, adjustment to disability counseling, financial and budget counseling, case management, and vocational exploration. I understand the importance of ordering, evaluating, and interpreting Functional Capacity Evaluations, medical records, and learning disability testing to guide clients towards creating feasible goals to achieve suitable, stable, and gainful employment.

I am skilled in proctoring, scoring, and analyzing interest, aptitude and abilities assessments and explaining results in a comprehensible and usable way to clients. I provide job readiness training to include interviewing skills, resume writing, communication skills, job seeking skills and appropriate work habits. I coordinate with community partners and utilize networking connections to create government contracts for on the job training and internship opportunities to increase the skill sets of clients.

I assist entrepreneurs in creating self-employment business plans and coordinate viability analyses of their business plans. I provide professional guidance and connect clients with resources to assist them in their Entrepreneurial goals.

When necessary, I can assist you in procuring required accommodations for students through school’s Office of Students with Disabilities Services,  as well as assist in identifying and providing job accommodations in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) law and policy. I can provide you with referrals to State Voc Rehab and I can provide you with a complete Vocational Evaluation to utilize if you are applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).
